If you need a Fuel Control Actuator for your Common Rail
« on: April 09, 2010, 04:32:58 pm »
Folks,

For those that may need an FCA for your 03 - 07 CTD, the part is available through your local Cummins or Bosch dealer.

The Cummins part number is 4932457. They call it Actuator, ETR Fuel Control.

The over-the-counter price is approx $140 - $160.

The Dodge part number is 5183245AA. Not all the Dodge dealers know this is available seperately and try to order the whole pump. It's about $220 through the dealer.

Tools needed:

T-25 torx bit
pliers

There are three t-25 bolts that hold the FCA to the CP3. The two at the top are easy to see, the bottom one is pretty easy to get to.

I had to use pliers to remove the connector. It would not pop off just by squeezing it with my fingers, mainly due to the crap that is sprayed on the engine after it is put together.

after the three bolts are removed the FCA will pull out with a little wiggling.

the new FCA goes in just as easy as the old one came out. Just make sure to work the bolts in evenly as not to pinch either of the two o-rings. One problem I had was the connector did not want to snap in properly. . .after a little muscle it finally snapped in.

this is about it :D
