water pump on 2003 cummins
« on: June 30, 2008, 05:29:54 am »
tools you will need are a 1/2" drive breaker bar, a ratchet (3/8" works good for size) with 10mm deep socket or short exstention, and something to clean the gasket surface.

first use the breaker bar to twist the tensioner to loosen the belt then take the belt off the a/c unit (this is the easiest place to reach) once you have the belt loose you can let the tensioner relax

the pull the two 10mm bolts on the pump. then pull the pump up and work it through the space between the fan and the alternator
clean the gasket surface and install new pump (rubber Oring gasket) and tighten
then use the breaker bar and put the belt back on

if you can't remember how the belt runs they give you a diagram

hope this helps  :punk: :devil2:
