Run additives is the biggest piece of advice I can tell ya. This new ulsd seems to be the problem. It seems to hold more moisture then the old lsd. I've seen plenty of steel fuel tanks rusting on the inside since the new fuel hit the market.

Everytime I've pulled my fuel system, there has been a minute amount of rust on the outside of the high pressure connector tubes (pins, needles, whatever you want to call them)

The first time I pulled them, they had a pretty good amount. It was surface corrosion only, but that's where it starts. Being down south, we don't get the salt and harsh winter crap either.

I've made it a point now to lightly oil them, when I've taken them out.

You'll want to add something with demulsifiers in it to help get the water out of the fuel. I run stanadyne

Even if you DO keep all of your fuel reciepts, how can you prove which station sold you the bad fuel?

What a scam ....

I keep all of my receipts for my fuel purchases for this sort of reason, and to track my fuel milage.

Back several years ago a friend of a friend filled up his gasoline car when he was at half a tank and it ran fine for a couple days and then it started to make weird noises and such and then just stopped working. He had it towed to a shop and when they checked it, they found out that the fuel that got put in was diesel and not gas like the pumps said. He took it through his insurance company and because he had kept the receipts they were able to go after the gas station as diesel was in the actual gas tank underground. It turned out there were a bunch of other cars that had the same thing happen for they realized what it was and closed the gas station. I only guess at how expensive that cost was to the gas station.

You can never be too safe with things.

Luckily for this guy Dave is talking about his insurance company is covering it as well.

Do '03s have the water in fuel indicator light as well? I never got a manual with my truck so i don't know.

Dave, are you able to get the manual packages that came with 03s still? my dealer says that they can't get them, so I am wondering if its something with them or if they are just not available anymore.

You can go here to download the owners manual, there is also a link to buy service manuals.  Dodge quit sending out service manuals in 2003/2004.  Now everything is on the web...

When you say insurance covered the costs are you talking about his regular car insurance under Comprehensive?  I was not aware they would cover such damages.  Good to know.

I still don't get how they knew which station to go after. Does this rusting happen immediately or something?

I'm assuming, and hope NOT to ever find out, but would think you would know fairly quickly and wouldn't have to drive that far to see the symptoms.
