Nice catch!

I actually just got in from a little top water fishing.

Did not catch anything but my brother pulled up a 16" channel cat.

DAMN!!

I bet that thing would of eaten the one my brother caught!

Now that were on the subject of cats... whats the nuttiest bait you have ever heard used to catch them? I have heard everything up until a week or so ago. This guy i was talking to said he was there the night before and saw some guy fishing with bar soap chunks. He did not believe it when the guy explained it to him so he tried it on his line. He said between the both of them, they caught 4 cats within 2 hours on a bar of soap. That sounds crazy, don't it? I tried it last night, but came up with no love.

Maybe Ivory Soap? While at the park the Ranger was telling me that people coat their bait in Ivory liquid. Supposedly it is still made with animal fat.

i take most of those  :quote: magical  :quote: bait stories to be fishin lies.

a man told my daddy one day he was fishin with vienna sausages and wd 40. my dad caught him self actually buying the stuff and then he realized it was  :bs:

a fisherman is just a dressed up liar  ;D

as far as bait goes, i use chicken liver soaked in wet dog food. seems to work real good. sometimes i will use some garlic salt and rock salt and let it sit overnight. the rock salt makes the bait tough so it stays on the hook better. i also use self setting circle hooks, once they bite it they are on. at least thats the stuff i use when im intentionally fishing for them, unlike that bigun up there.

last cat fish trip I went on we had 12 cats in about an hour using 3 day old shrimp ;)

stuff stank to high heaven but to the cats it's just divine.

Yeah, ill have to try Ivory and see how that works. I think that was actually the one the dude told me, but when i last went fishing, i forgot. Makes sense if there is still animal fat inside. Same thing goes for WD-40, i have heard that many times, too. Maybe there is animal fat or remains inside of that, too?

I know a proven trick is to spit chewing tobacco on a cricket! Haha! I went on a few trips to Louisiana when i was younger to visit friends family and we used to use crickets to catch gills and bass. I swear its true that chewin spit does magic on a cricket!  ;D2
