Driver and passenger door gaskets.
« on: November 02, 2009, 03:58:57 pm »
Has anybody had any problems with the door jamb seals?  A couple of weeks ago I noticed that the seal on the drivers side door was ripped.  This past weekend I stopped by Dodge to see about a replacemant.  And when I checked the passenger door I also noticed where it too is starting to wear through.  Upon further inspection, I noticed while opening and closing the corner of the door catches on the seal.  I've ordered new seals (darned things are expensive).  But, I thought I'd just see if anybody else has had the same problem or not.

My seal on the back drivers side has never sat right.  It will stick when ever it wants.  It's something I keep an eye on; but it hasn't torn yet.

It is a common problem on those year trucks. The new seals will be an updated design. Haven't seen any problems with the new ones.

Kool.  I'll have to see how the new ones work once they come in.  I know what you mean about the wind noise.  I can hear and feel a lot more air coming in through the doors with this truck than any of the trucks I've had in the past.  As for 120mph, I've not had this truck wound out that far.

My drivers side door had a lot of wind noise about a year after I bought it. It never sat quite right. It drove me nuts, especially on windy/gusty days.  It stuck out just a tad on the latch side. I moved the door strike about an 1/8th of an inch closer to the cab, the noise is pretty much gone now. It's been good for over a year now.

Replaced mine not quite a year ago.  Same thing, ripped on the drivers side, then the passenger side. got mine from dave. Have to look to see what I paid, but way, way, cheaper than my dealer.

I stopped by the Crysler Dealer to pick up my gaskets Saturday.  And, would you know the guy at the parts dept. ordered the wrong ones.  He ordered me the window glass stripping and not the door jam gaskets.  But, it turns out the ones I needed were a lot less.  I though they seemed kind of expensive.

I'm glad i looked around first I was about to ask if the seals was a common problem. I was washing my truck yesterday and noticed my door seals was ripped on drivers side.  Is there a cure for it? or just buy new ones and that will fix it. Once you guys get your parts can you post the part number on here so we can share the fun of replacing them.
Thanks

I don't have that problem, but I do have an issue when the weather is around 10 degrees F. Both the drivers and passenger window let air in through the bottom of the window, and the glass freezes and fogs over. I have to redirect the heat to the windows to be able to see out of them. Does anyone else have this problem?

To prevent them from sticking and ripping try putting a little bit of vaseline on them, will keep them from drying out too.
