Title: Bed liner
Post by: Jims1dodge on December 12, 2010, 05:53:05 pm
I haven't seen a write up about any of the DIY bedliner kits so I thought I'd post mine.

We did 3 trucks last winter at the shop so we got them done in 1 day borrowing a little shop help to wrap everything up.

We also used the Raptor liner by U-POL

It is a 2 part epoxy mix, pretty easy to mix, and you can add whatever color you want.

We went with grey because it matched with my blue, Rogers white d-max, and Santos red f-150.  The color is any standard automotive pigment available at your local auto paint supply store .

The base is or was an off white.

There is a cheesy $20 spray gun used to apply this.

You can also thin the material down to get the pattern you desire.

We used acetone to clean the beds before and after sanding to remove all the wax.

I used scotch brite burgandy pads on a jitterbug sander to sand the majority of the area, then hand sanded the rest

If you have bare metal spots, the rapto liner will bond to them if you don't want to add the extra step in priming them.  We did this on the f-150 (Skip the prime) and haven't had any issues in a year.

Make sure you cover the entire truck because of overspray.

I painted over the bed rails to cover the ugly from the plastic bed liner.  I painted that area later with some Duplicolor that matched pretty good.

This bedliner has been in the trucks fdor a year now with no fading, it is UV stable, no chipping, or peeling.

The only issue I have with it is I dragged some cement blocks across the surface and wore it down like course sandpaper would.  It does touchup or recover nicely.

It looks way better than the roll on with Kevlar, and is as durable to me.

Looks nice! How much does it cost? I assume it was cheaper than my Line-x  :$:
