Valve springs
« on: July 10, 2009, 12:57:44 am »
Anyone got a valve spring compressor they'd loan/rent to me for a cummins?  I picked up my replacement motor today.  Was thinking I'd put the studs and springs in before the engine goes in.

Fixed your post for you.  You're such a nice guy!  I'll be down this weekend then!

On a serious note, anyone tried the springs with one of these?

http://www.sjdiscounttools.com/kd2078.html

I know it'll be slow compaired to the four valve jobber.  But the engine is easy to work on out of the truck.  Plus I won't have to pull the injectors right away.

Out of the truck, that should be fine.

I'd hate to try and do #5 and #6 with that thing and the engine in the truck.

Dont underestimate how nice  that spring compressor is though, it really makes short work of it.

Just can't see spending $125 for something I'll use one time.  I think it'll go smoothly/slowly with the single valve spring tool since the engine is out of the truck.

Zach will loan it to ya, IF it's to install a set of Hamilton's springs.

All he asks is that it doesn't touch a set of F1's.

If you're installing Hamilton's and want the tool, there is a thread over over on CompD to request it. I don't think anyone is using it right now.
