The Oil light came on the other day then it went out after it was shut off then turned back on, so I change the Oil and filter thinking that would help. So today I take off for a long trip and the Oil light came back on, I shut the engin off then start it again and it goes out Huh?
Could this be a sending unit ? How hard is it to fix ? Any Help will HELP

Thanks
Ed

Did you check the manual?

If it's an oil change reminder light you may need to push a combination of the odo button and something else to reset it. My wife's Camry is like that.

Again, vehicle info? What year, engine, miles? Probably just the sending unit would be my guess.

 cheers

Just checked for bulletins for this and found none. Though I would still bet that it's the sending unit. We don't see a lot of them in the shop for this concern, but it is fairly common on other vehicles, especially if you don't hear any engine noise when it comes on.

Good luck!

Sam -  cheers

DESCRIPTION
The engine oil pressure switch is located on the lower left front side of the engine. It screws into the oil filter adapter. The normally closed switch provides an input through a single wire to the low pressure indicator light on the instrument cluster.

OPERATION
The oil pressure switch provides a ground for the instrument cluster low oil pressure indicator light. The switch receives oil pressure input from the engine main oil gallery. When engine oil pressure is greater than 27.5 Kpa (4 psi) , the switch contacts open, providing a open circuit to the low pressure indicator light.

Did you hook up a pressure gauge in place of the oil pressure switch and see what your pressure was at idle?
