We tell u once! We tell u tousand time!...........

NO POWER MODS WITHOUT GAUGES! Bat

Power is good, melting parts is bad!

The VERY FIRST thing you do to your truck NEEDS to be a set of gauges. No if, and, or but about it. Stock or modified, they let you know what's really going on.

Don't say we didn't warn you. If you want to make the big power, you have to know what's going on with your vehicle.

Doghouse Diesel Performance carries all your monitoring needs. From gauges to senders to mounts and accessories, we have the parts you need to keep your baby healthy.

Good work Rich, I didnt think it was a big deal to get my SMARTY and start toeing and hauling ass all around. Then I came to my senses and oredered a boost and pyrometer set for my truck. I got really lucky, I had been running well into the red on the temp side. And had no idea.

this is where you spend your money first!  GAUGES

It's pretty simple actually.......

You spend $300 - $800 on gauges, depending on the ones you need vs spending $5000 - $7000 on a new short block or machine work or $5000+ on a new transmission.

Before anything else, you install gauges. Boost and EGT AT A MINIMUM.

Auto tranny's need a gauge.

2nd Gen's need a fuel pressure gauge.

3rd Gen's need a rail pressure gauge.

Those are the critical functions.

I'm saying........you spent umpteen thousand dollars on a piece of equipment. It would be WISE to know if you're about to do damage.

Now, if you ignore those gauges and you grenade something..............well, you know the old saying, "You can't stop stupid."

If you melt parts or grenade your tranny because you cranked up the power, expect a HEFTY repair bill.

Remember, Cost is exponential to HP.

Auto tranny's need a gauge.

I still haven't done this.

I was hoping with my double deep pan that I'd be Ok.

Donny, wth your built tranny and the way you drive, you're fine.

You don't tow that heavy and you don't really hot rod the truck.

You're not making over 450 HP either, so the chances of you stressing that SunCoast are slim.

not to side track this thread, but can you use a thermocouple to run multiple items? I am thinking about getting gauges for a backup when I forget to take my PDA (Banks) into the truck with me and was wondering if I can just use the same thermocouple and splice in a second set of lead wires to the gauge or would I need to drill and tap for a new probe?

Once thing you don't want to do on an EGT probe is splice or solder the wires. The gauge and probe work in millivolts and using solder or splices can change the readings the gauge see's.

If your thermocouple has the ring terminal connections, you can just add the rings for the new gauge. You may need a slightly longer screw to connect them, but that's easy....hit the hardware store.

Now, if it's a weather pack type connector, I don't recommend splicing into it. I'd say either get a second probe or get a probe that has the ring terminals.

Oh yeah, sorry I should have mentioned that, they are the ring type connectors... So I should be good to just add a gauge to that then...
